I have always wanted to foster but life circumstances have prevented me. Now I can help foster a child by serving as a Church Champion and leading a Care Team.
The group bringing us meals (once a week) has hands down been one of the MOST PRACTICAL supports we have ever received as foster parents.
We have a foster care crisis all over the U.S. and who better to solve it than the church.
TBRI has saved the adoption of our girls. Behind our salvation, it has been the most transformative thing in our lives. We were incapable of anything but surviving prior to this training but now we have the tools to thrive! It is such a compassionate & supportive way to parent any child, not just those from hard places. We are watching all of our children open up and flourish in their “felt safety”. Every interaction in our home is different now and is fueled with unshakeable Hope. It confirmed what the Word tells us, there is no child or person too lost that they cannot be found. We know what to do now, and it really works!
When I heard how many children were in foster care and what an epidemic was happening in our own community, to help these families that are called to foster, that’s the least I can do.
I have a direct line of people willing and ready to pray for our family at a moment's notice. Our team has also chosen to support us by providing meals weekly. I didn't realize what a relief this could be to a busy family. It shows the consistent love of Jesus.
I get a text from one of the care team members and it immediately puts some of the "evening chaos" into perspective. It's just a meal to them, but it brings comfort and peace to our family! I text my husband and tell the kids, "Our Care Team did this meal". And they look forward to it every time.
