How many miles do you drive for your children?

Sherry Bouquet April 03, 2025 0 comments

As I drove many miles over the past month meeting with churches and pastors in one county, sharing about the need for foster care ministry, I prayed for families to open their homes to children who didn't have anyone to go the extra mile.

While you are willing to go the extra mile for your children or grandchildren in all of our communities there are children whose parents are not willing or able to go the extra mile for them.

Recently, I heard of one child who sleeps at the county agency building with two case workers, because they are struggling to find the proper placement for the child. After enduring the most difficult circumstances and the challenges of removal, this child needs a family who will go the extra mile to promote the healing process. These case workers are standing in the gap providing love and care as they work to find a family.

Please keep these faithful caseworkers and this child in your prayers. Already the churches in the community are working together to bring home cooked meals each day.

If God has called you to open your home to foster a child, NOW is the time to go the extra mile. Contact us with questions and to receive support for your journey into foster care.

Take time to learn how children, youth and adults are impacted by trauma and how you can help them heal. We have training opportunities and our annual celebration of Foster Care Month, Color Fun Walk & Run MAY 17 @ Freer Field to raise funds to help us launch more foster care ministries who raise up supported foster families.

Praying for more families to go the extra mile for a child,

Sherry M. Bouquet
