Now we know why it's called Boone and Me...this young man touched our hearts and his father's willingness to open his home and his heart was the sacrifice that gave Boone a chance to flourish.
Sunday, November 17, was a special day to stand in support of children in foster care as a community. We had foster & kinship families, volunteers, pastors and local officials join together for this occasion. I prayed for inspiration, information and motivation from the story of this family's journey together.
What we received was so much more!
Our ministry has been blessed with many amazing volunteers who represented by two we recognized that day. Both Cathy Emminger and Karen Laughery were founding care team volunteers and lay leaders at their churches. While we have seen many step into fostering we also celebrated our first volunteer become foster parent, Nancy Alton. Sen. Obhof provided an Ohio Senate Commendation honoring the efforts of these volunteers in particular and all who serve in foster care ministry through their local churches in our community.
For me the GOD SIZED came in the question and answer as one of our own foster youth asked a question of Boone. It was then that I realized the most important audience we impacted that day, the lives of the foster and kinship children that came to hear Boone and Cecil share. They heard of HOPE and a FUTURE! I only wished we had more of those precious youth in the room!
Now to complete the GOD SIZED work through the next few weeks of the year. We need $2,000 to reach our God Sized goal to raise $20,000 to increase our impact in 2020. The need is great in every community. In Ashland alone, there are over 200 children in the foster care system who will be impacted by our work.
We already see God working through you! I know God will exceed all our expectations.
