What do you look forward to this summer? It is a time to enjoy friends, family, new places, recreation, camping and vacations. One thing you can do to get the most out of your summer is to support a foster child in their summer activities.
Often our foster families are eager to provide enriching experiences to their foster children just like we all have done for our own children or grandchildren. These experiences come with a price tag.
This summer we are thankful for a lead gift to help us sponsor enriching and educational activities for children in foster care. The Impact Youth Council of the Ashland County Community Foundation awarded Fostering Family Ministries with a $1000 grant to help foster children enjoy these activities. For a foster family who has just received a child in care these funds are a god send to help them invest in these children's lives.
With almost 150 children in care, in Ashland County alone, the $1000 gift will be used up quickly. That's where you come in. Take a moment today and consider how you can celebrate summer by giving a gift to support a foster child in a recreational or education endeavor. It may be summer camp. It may be music lessons, an academic or arts day, playing on a sports team or joining their foster family on a special vacation activity.
With your own children you set aside funds and planned ahead to provide these activities. Our foster children are brought into care in the homes of our foster families who are ready in a moments notice to provide a loving home for a child in need. Let's join them and make summertime the best of what it can be.
